But it begs the question of whether "splash" could be used when one splashes a liquid at someone, like splashing someone at the swimming pool. What about the incidental or intentional action of dropping, spilling, or displacing water which then splashes (moves out of a container; moves onto the floor, against the wall, etc.). Ex: Dropping a pan of water, spilling a glass of water onto the floor, dropping a big rock into a lake all result in not just the sound of "splash", but liquid being displaced.
