I like this, but I think we could get more if you widen the concept. The broader category for an olive tree is "pitted fruit tree". This is a diverse group of "stone" or "pitted" fruiting trees, including peaches/apricots ('epIn), plumbs (pIlam naH), cherries (tapqej), mangos (menggho'), coconuts (qo'qo), and… olives! (Among others)
In general I think the strategy you describe is a good one, but something as specific as this would be helpful to future Bible translators, among others.
