  1. My original thought was that being in grief was similar to being sad, but further online discussion pointed out some subtlety. In English sad is an adjective and describes a single state, while grief is handled linguistically as an ongoing process (paging Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross)

  2. At first I thought this might be covered by {DIgh} "deal with" or {mew'} "cope with"

    Maybe you could make {yab} the subject of {DIgh}/{mew'} to emphasize that this is a psychological and not logistical kind of coping. But then again Klingons are a martial people and there is probably a fair amount of cultural and ritual socialization surrounding the mourning of the dead in battle.
