Description
The fourth element of the periodic table. A strong, lightweight metal. Found in gemstones, including emeralds. Used by 21st century humans for aircraft and spacecraft parts, nuclear bombs, X-ray lenses, and various alloys. In Star Trek, Federation communicators include beryllium, and beryllium crystals are a valuable currency in some parts of the Delta Quadrant.
