For what it's worth, I've had people tell me that they have a hard time
understanding my pronunciation of /gh/, that they tend to hear it as /rgh/.
When I actually pronounce /rgh/ it is very clearly distinct, but for people
who don't know me the /gh/ seems to trip them up.

I'm not sure how the uvular rolling (as you call it) got into my
pronunciation, but it takes a conscious effort now to avoid using it.  I
wouldn't hold my speech up as an example to emulate.
