Klingon language tools

Christian Einfeldt ([email protected])

Hi,

I will be unsubcribing from this list as I will be traveling until
mid June. Before, unsubscribing, however, I would like to remind
folks here that there is an effort under way to try to localize an
office suite to Klingon.

So far, I have not found that much interest in doing so, which is
fine. Each community knows what is best for its own needs.
However, with all due respect, you have available to you a good
resource for creating a way to enhance your written Klingon
communications, such as poster, letters, spreadsheets, etc. It is
the ooklingon project, and it is linked below. Due to the KLI's
contractual relationship with Paramount, and due to the KLI's
central role in academic work on Klingon, it seems that KLI's role
in sheparding the development of OpenOffice.org for Klingon would
be a central one. I frankly cannot see how the project could
succeed without this group.

If no one at KLI takes an interest in the ooklingon project, it will
languish, which would seem to be a shame. There is a web site,
there is a list of words which have been translated, but the
project has been dormant since early this year. I would encourage
you to nurture this project, lest one additional tool for the
enhancement for Klingon usage would atrophe and disappear.

If you would like to reply, please email me directly, as I will be
off list. Thanks, and have fun! Here's the link for the ooklingon
site.
