Quantity of Time

I try to practice at a level of confidence.  Now, I want to hear the experts' 
opinions on a problem that is so far over my head that I am tossing and 
turning at night trying to think of the solution.

How would you translate:  I arrived two hours late; the ship had already 
left.  I arrived at the hotel two weeks early; thus no rooms were available.
