Your advice on translating to Klingon is very insightful, but I'm sorry,
man - "Fek'lhr's toothy tooth" just doesn't sound that scary.

I think you missed the point, so to speak.
Adding ['a'] to the end of a noun makes that noun bigger, more powerful, or
special in some way.
If I saw the word [Ho''a'] I wouldn't translate it into English as "toothy tooth".
In the context of Fek'lhr it would definitely carry the context of 'fang' or large
canine tooth. In the context of a cow it might carry the meaning of an oversized
molar.
The writer was correct. You need to think in terms of whole ideas not translating
individual words.
