In the story I heard he wasn't asked to 'say something' but rather
given a specific English sentence to translate, a task he faked his
way out of, no doubt after a quick scan of the audience for known KLI
members. :)

SKI: If you're asked to speak Klingon and you don't know what to say,
just say whatever you were planning to say next in Klingon instead of
the language you were planning to say it in.
