If I remember correctly, in a TNG episode (I don't remember the name), we
learn that Klingons evolved from a targ-like ancestor and Betazoids from a
fish-like ancestor. (And strictly speaking, the theory of evolution does
not teach that man evolved from apes, but rather that men and apes evolved
from a common ape-like ancestor. At least, that's how it was taught in my
school.) (Not that I believe it, either.)
