I disagree. This use of "me" is an indirect object with a direct object.
Its use is not very straightforward in English, but it normally equates to
[jIHvaD], as in ff.:
You could also say {jIHvaD paq nob} ("He gives a book for me"). I prefer
{jIHvaD paq nob} over {paq munob}, because the prefix won't always tell
explicitly who is getting the book.
To me [paq munob] means "it gives me (and i am also) a/the book, in other
words, an appositive. It's similar to the Mexican use of "Los mexicanos
somos.." meaning "We Mexicans are...", but somos is "we are".
