Really?  It's not a bad idea, but I don't recall ever seeing it before.
It's a little insufficiently precise for me; I'd be thinking "specimen of
WHAT?"  For printed letters, I'd sort of want to see something talking
about pIqaD (even though it's not really pIqaD, but Latin letters; I'm
talking informal settings here).  This wouldn't be right here, though, for
the same reason {Deghmey} is imperfect, since we're not, after all, talking
about the symbols, but the *sounds* they represent.  QIch maybe?
