Actually, {'ej} seems to go between verb-based clauses.  Here's are two 
examples: {quv Hutlh HoHbogh tlhIngan 'ach qabDaj 'angbe'bogh.} "The Klingon 
who kills without showing his face has no honor."  {SuvmeH 'ej charghmeH bogh 
tlhInganpu'}  "Klingons are born to fight and to conquer."

I was thinking of making this very suggestion, but what maqlIy has isn't 
*wrong* . . .
