Many years ago when Kahless ruled the empire, there lived two sisters. Their
names were Pelora and Velka. They were eleven years old. After they were
born, their mother died. Their father took care of them and loved them.
Because they looked alike, in order to tell them apart one had to know them.
Their characters were very different. Velka was serious and quiet. Pelora
was boisterous and happy. However they were both strong and brave.
They only wanted one thing and they talked about it incessantly. They longed
to become warriors. How would they accomplish this? Many years ago there
were no female warriors. They thought their father would know. Their father
was a great warrior who had helped Kahless establish the empire. Thus, they
went to their father.
Pelora said, "My lord, We want to become warriors> Can you help us?" Velqa
added, "Father, we really must know because this is what we have definitely
decided to do."
Their father thought for a minute. "Didn't I teach you how to fight with your
knives?"
"Yes, my lord, replied Velka. "Pelora wants me to speak and explain our
goals. I'm sorry, but your teachings are insufficient. We refuse to leave
until you tell us what procedure we must follow."
Their father stood up angrily. You're insulting! You are disrespectful." He
dismissed them with a wave of his hand. Pelora pleaded, "No, daddy, don't be
grouchy. Velka doesn't say much, but when she does she says what she thinks.
Do not send us away. We thank you for your teachings, but we are definitely
ready to learn new things"
