Ease up. As you catch up on your mail, you will doubtless get
to my confession that I've discovered this to be yet another
sneaky attempt at Sentence As Subject. "*It* is preferable
that..." I knew there was something wrong with it, but it did
not immediately occur to me.

Others continued to support the idea after I had already given
up on it, much to my embarrassment.
