KSRP: Hamlet 1:1
I've finally finished translating Act 1, Scene 1 of _Hamlet_, so before I
send to SarahEkstrom for the KSRP, here it is, submitted for your approval,
or at least for your commentation.
As you may know from the majority of my Klingon text, I try to get by without
using any punctuation whatsoever, as it is never used in canon, by simply
writing only one sentence per line. Here I had the problem of sentences that
just didn't quite fit on one line, and dividing them up into multiple
sentences had the effect of choppiness, so I relunctantly chose to add a . at
the end of each sentence.
(BTW- My feelings toward punctuation: If it does exist in Hol, it is one of
those "details of {pIqaD}" that Okrand never describes. I doubt that it would
resemble our system of punctuation very closely. Klingon structure does not
need it nearly as desperately as English. Try writing any substantial amount
of English text with no commas, and you'll see what I mean. The only use of
it I can think of is to seperate a subordinate clause from the main one,
since the subject of the first and the object of the next might be confusedly
interpreted as a N-N construction.

Also, look for two words in particular:
1) {Son} - I couldn't tell whether it meant "relieve (from duty)" or
"relieve" as in "allow to relax". I considered the former meaning more useful
to Klingon society, so that's the way I used it.
2) {yoDneghDogh} - This is a neologism for "cannon fodder". If anyone has a
better way to express this, I'd like to know.
Also, look out (if you're previously familiar with _Hamlet_) for any
"creative liberties" I might have taken, when there wasn't an appropriate
Klingon word available. For example, "the sheeted dead / did squeak and
gibber..." came out as {ngojchoHlaw' lommey}. There are several other
occurences of this, which I'll leave for you to find.
I'm interested in any and all feedback on the clarity of this text, as well
as ways to better express the intended meaning where the text is not clear.
