As most of you know, I'm a science fiction writer. As you, <div>might suspect, many of my friends are also science fiction</div><div>writers. One such friend is Jay Lake. </div><div><br></div><div>Jay has also been my editor and publisher. And I have </div>
<div>been Jay's editor and publisher. And we're *still* friends!</div><div><br></div><div>Jay has also been battling cancer. He's been through </div><div>multiple rounds of chemo and other therapies, as well as</div>
<div>having bits of diseased organs resected. Let's just sum it</div><div>all up with the understatement of calling it "very icky."</div><div><br></div><div>At this point, he's pretty much out of options. Almost. </div>
<div><br></div><div>There's a long shot that the doctors can perform a</div><div>gene-sequencing of his newest tumor, and compare the</div><div>results to a gene-sequencing of healthy cells. Once they</div><div>have moreclosely identifying the anomalous code, there</div>
<div>may be a treatment for it. Or maybe not.</div><div><br></div><div>This kind of science is not cheap, and some of of Jay's</div><div>more famous friends have put together a fundraiser on</div><div>his behalf. As the incoming donations reach the different</div>
<div>fundraiser levels, various "acts of whimsy" are becoming</div><div>available. </div><div><br></div><div>While I am not famous, I'm hoping that a contribution of</div><div>whimsy on my part might help us to attract support from</div>
<div>the Klingon fan population. And so for my "act of whimsy"</div><div>I have suggested I would provide "Five Klingon Pick-Up </div><div>Lines Overheard in a Federation Bar."</div><div><br></div><div>
This is where I need YOUR HELP!</div><div><br></div><div>I can only think of one particularly good Klingon pick-up</div><div>line: "Ridged for her pleasure," and I can think of more</div><div>than a couple ways to render that in Klingon. </div>
<div><br></div><div>So I'm turning to this list, to help me to help my friend.</div><div><br></div><div>Please use this thread to suggest clever, smarmy, and</div><div>even mildly offensive pick-up lines which a) can be </div>
<div>translated into Klingon, and b) have a clear, Klingon </div><div>slant to them. </div><div><br></div><div>Thank you,</div><div><br></div><div>Lawrence</div><div><br></div><div>P.S. If you want to see what's been done so far on the</div>
<div>fundraising front, here's the link: </div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/sequence-a-science-fiction-writer/38705">http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/sequence-a-science-fiction-writer/38705</a></div>
