{yaH} is "duty station". It's the place where you work and is often used
on the List for "work place, job site". E.g. {yaHwIjDaq} "at work, at my
job". Okrand has used {Qu' vu'wI' yaH} "Mission Ops" (duty staion on the
bridge?), {ropyaH} "infirmary" and {SeHyaH} "command center, operations
(?)" (untranslated in ST5).
The work or job itself would be {Qu'} "duty, quest, mission, task, chore"
and the verb is {vum} "work, (labor?)". There's a relevant line from ST3:
Qu'vaD lI' net tu'bej.
"You will find it useful." ST3
which is explained more fully in TKD:
Qu'vaD lI' net tu'bej
One certainly finds it useful for the mission.
One will certainly observe that it is useful to the mission. TKD

I see you liked my suggested *{yInngoq} for "DNA, genetic code, genome,
etc.". <g>

Ears are body parts: {wej qoghDu'}:
... {qogh} "ear", of course is homophonous with {qogh}, "belt". When used
in context, there is seldom confusion; less so when the plural is used
({qoghDu'} can only be "ears" while {qoghmey} generally means "belts").

Or just a brusque {tugh!} "Quickly!". There's also an idiom {qul DIr
yISop!} "Eat the fire skin!" (i.e. "Hurry up! Move quickly!"; cf. KGT 110).

Now that I think about it, {ghuv} "recruit" is simplest and works best in
these cartoons for "applicant" and *{chu'wI'} for "the new
guy/gal". *{chu'wI'} has long been used on the mailing list for "novice,
'newbie', tyro, beginner, newcomer, etc." On the KLI's virtual world KEVE,
*{chu'wI' yaH} is the "Newcomer's Center" where new players check in and
get orientated IIRC.
