Well, he's afraid Chang will have him killed. Frankly, I would have
expected to hear {-neS}. Are you sure it's {-nIS}? Aside from the fact
that high-ranking Klingon generals always need to be handled with kid
gloves, the warden is a loose end in the conspiracy. More importantly,
he's a loose end whose failure threatens to expose their plot to kill
Azetbur and frame the Federation.

Aha! That makes much more sense.

I'm sure he did, but AFAIK they've never been published. He's only
published his notes for ST5 in HolQeD. It would sure be nice if the KLI
could get hold of all of Okrand's notes. <g>

Good. Let me give you - and anyone else who wants to try - my entire ST6
transcript, with your corrections added. If you prefer, I can send this to
you off-list as a MS-Word document since the character formatting (bolding,
italics) will make it much easier to read). Note I've added some variant
dialog as it appeared in the novelization in {curly brackets} which may
reflect the version Okrand worked with before the subtitles were edited and
added in post-production.

STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY (ST6)

The translations in parentheses are the (subtitles) as they appear in the
movie followed by the [closed captions] in brackets, which was helpful in
places where there were no subtitles. Angle brackets indicate
<uncertainties> in the transcription due to muttered dialogue, background
music or sound effects. I have added excerpts in {curly brackets} from J.M.
Dillard's novelization which may reflect an earlier version of Nicholas
Meyer & Denny Martin Flinn's screenplay (story by Leonard Nimoy, Nicholas
Meyer and Denny Martin Flinn) used by the novelist in her adaptation. The
{tlhIngan Hol} in the movies is actually pretty good; Marc Okrand himself
coached many of the actors. Though this film had a lot of Klingon, much of
it was untranslated in the background, muted and strangely distorted.

Emergency transmission from Praxis to Excelsior:

Ininis: ghoQaH... <...>
             [Help us! <???>] (untranslated)
             [speaking klingon] (captions)
             {"This is an emergency! We have suffered--"}

State dinner aboard the Enterprise:

Chang: taH pagh taHbe'
("To be or not to be.")
[(in klingon) to be or not to be.] (captions)
[Originally: yIn pagh yInbe'. When filming the scene, actor
Actor Christopher Plummer didn't feel it sounded "Klingon
enough," so Okrand quickly changed it to taH.]

Azetbur: vavoy [toasting her father]
             [My father!] (untranslated)
             [vavoy.] (captions)

In the Enterprise transporter room, after dinner:

Chang: DaH machegh
             [We're returning now.] (untranslated)
             [DaH machegh.] (captions)
{He pulled his communicator from his belt, spoke a few words
              into it, and nodded to Kirk.}

The attack on Kronos One (much untranslated shouting):

Crossing the Klingon border at Mortagh Outpost Three:

[The officer at the Morska outpost is definitely speaking with an unusual
accent, and might be using what the core of the empire would consider
archaic speech. For example, when he was referring "that ship", he clearly
said Dujvetz. There's no tz sound in "High Klingon" (as we study it on this
list); it's apparently a dialectical variant of tlh. (ghunchu'wI')]

Kesla: <morska jIH> ("dialect" ??)
