Well, are you talking to an American or a Klingon here? ;)

The idea is that we use Klingons the way we believe Klingons themselves 
would use it, and I'd imagine the American usage (I've never heard "Bite me" 
used anywhere other than in an American English context) would be pretty 
much lost on a Klingon. We should be wary of literally translating idioms, 
and I think that the reason why not is pretty self-explanatory in this case.
