I would probably use {qon}, {gher}, {jatlh}, or {much}.
{ghItlh} means "to make marks on something"
{qon} "record" is used when speaking of music and stories, and apparently 
has some literary connotations.
{gher} "compile, pull together" is what you would do with a grocery list.
And we know you can {lut jatlh} "speak a story", and you can probably {lut 
much} "present a story".

the way you have it is correct.
