SuStel and I have wondered whether {Qapla'} might be derived from {Qap}
(verb) + {-la'}, the ungrammatical combined Class 5 verb suffix (see KGT).
This yields the salutation "Success can be had!" or "One is able to
succeed!" Neither of us is certain, but it's possible, and definitely
interesting.
