RE: Klingon Alphabet

That does make sense; adding new words/sounds to call the "alphabet" probably would make things difficult -if not discouraging- for those who wish to learn. I like how you said that you try and make connections to English as much as you can. The thing is, that "extra flavor" -as you put it- would make the language a bit more official. You know, more like it's a real language to those who find it hard to believe that we actually speak Klingon :) You're right, the flavor is definitely there! I suppose I'm too worried about making the language appear authentic. Thanks. Now, as for SuStel. I don't think it's too difficult to get tone out of an email. Writing always has tone. For example, I can tell that when you wrote yours you were calm, nice, and almost trying to "calm" me down :) But I was actually teaching a small class for those at my college who want to speak Klingon and one of the first things a friend of mine said was, "Boy, some of those people on the list get really worked up over the Alphabet thing..." I had not even read the email yet. When I did, his tone was absolutely sardonic, rude, inconsiderate, and arrogant. He had insulted my intelligence when he refused to listen to what my actual point of the email discussion was about. My point being that I would like Klingon to have a definite writing system and a name to go along with it. I feel he was arguing for the sake of arguing. But I appreciate you speaking in a calm, mature manner with me about the Alphabet. I think we all can agree Paramount/Okrand should continue supporting our language any way they can.

Glory to you, and to your House.
