RE: KLBC: Alice in Wonderland

David asked:
> I'm also looking for a word meaning "image", "picture", or
> "photograph", but haven't been able to find anything close.
> Is there one, or does one just have to work around it?

New Beginners' Grammarian, DloraH, answered:
: Many of us are looking, or rather waiting for that word. Some
: ideas have been -understandable- but only because of context.

Indeed. Until Maltz tells us how Klingons talk about pictures and images, we
just have to work around it for now. For example, instead of focusing on the
image per se, rephrase your sentence around the action:

The captain turned around and saw [the image of] a Federation
battle cruiser on the main view screen.
  tlhe'choH HoD 'ej jIH'a'Daq DIvI' may'Duj legh.

The captain examined [the image of] the approaching Romulan
warbird on the main view screen closely.
jIH'a' bej HoD; ghoSbogh romuluSngan toQDuj nuDchu'.

Occasionally you can use {Degh} "emblem, symbol, insignia, marking, mark" as
Okrand did in SkyBox card SP1:

  tlhIngan wo' Degh 'oH Deghvam'e'
This marking represents the Klingon Empire. (SP1)

Here's another example from the same card. Notice how Okrand rendered
"profile", perversely avoiding the need for coining this much-needed word:

qo'mey Sar charghtaHvIS chaH Dat tlhIngan may'Duj luleghDI'
neH qIb nganpu' buQpu' may'Duj 'ej ghIjpu' 'oH. nIteb
   ghIjpu' je Deghvam
this symbol grew to become as feared throughout the galaxy
as the menacing profiles of their battlecruisers. (SP1)
