This is exactly the way I'd expect lI'/lab to work. Meanwhile, I'm a little
curious about whether or not Okrand would have considered {lI'} and {lab} to
take direct objects if he wasn't forced in ST3 to come up with reasons to keep
Valkris's lips moving, since she was filmed speaking English and later dubbed
her lines in Klingon. Data could easily be so implied by the verb that a direct
object would not be necessary.
But, now we have that canon, so {lI'} and {lab} take direct objects.
