I accept your argument against tob, but having rejected tob, I'd recommend
Daj.  I would translate /nger wIwaH/ as "we sample the theory."  Being that
this is the step by step description of the experiment, I see no reason for
the perfective here.

would have expected the same translations.  Klingon doesn't distingush.
