Your example appears at the bottom page 62 of TKD, and shows that it's ok to
use {-chugh} ("if") without {vaj} ("therefore, so, thus").
We've seen {vaj} used *with* {-chugh}, such as in the useful phrases section
at the back of TKD:
{bIjeghbe'chugh vaj bIHegh} "Surrender or die", literally "If you do not
surrender, then you die"
So {vaj} probably can be optional with {-chugh}, just like in English:
"If you misspeak, I'll kill you" or "If you misspeak, then I'll kill you"
