The issue here is that you're neither discussing nor using the Klingon
*language*. Stories about Klingons are appropriate on this mailing
list only if they're written in Klingon or if they explore a part of
the language.

The post from you which began this thread was definitely more
off-topic than the one in which you answered the question about
whether your story involved Klingon.

The attitude that "one off-topic exception won't hurt" leads to many
off-topic exceptions, and soon it's the *on-topic* posts that are the
exception. The rules for this mailing list are simple: if it's not
in or about Klingon, it doesn't belong here.

My messages written in Klingon only are intended for those who can
understand them. Most of the time when I'm writing in Klingon, I'm
*thinking* in Klingon. I don't have an English translation in mind.
Insisting that I provide one means forcing me to work at least twice
as hard to say what I want. I'm not here as a full-time teacher, so
unless I think what I have to say is very important, I'm not going to
expend effort to make it easier for people to understand me without
having to work at it themselves.

If you want to learn, *you* should be willing to put forth the effort.
It's not rude to post in only Klingon. Someone who takes advantage of
not being understood in order to mock another is acting badly, but you
shouldn't have a problem with people just chatting in Klingon.

discussion at qep'a'. :-)
