Do'Ha'qu'. SarDan lut vItIvbej. 'ach *sex* qelbe' mu' qID "nuD".

I'd feel terrible if you stopped writing SarDan lut because I pointed out
the /nuD/ pun. The pun (AFAIK) originated with Marc Okrand, so it's a part
of the language whether we like it or not. (I don't see it as being
sex-related either, as nudity doesn't imply sex.)

'ej watlhbogh lut Daqonchu'! jIDoghmo' neH yImevQo'!

The Klingon language has all sorts of multi-lingual puns intentionally
embedded in it, and you can't worry about what your sentences might happen
to mean in another language. In retrospect, if I had known about your
sensitivity to the /nuD/ pun, I wouldn't have pointed it out. Sorry.

Human jIHtaHvIS, motlh *sex* *violence* je vISaHbe'. 'ach tlhIngan

I wouldn't ordinarily focus on sex and violence. But when I'm
role-playing as a Klingon, I focus more on those things, because my
idea of Klingon culture is that Klingons have a far different
attitude towards these subjects than humans (or, to be more precise,
North Americans, since many other Earth cultures don't have the same
sex-taboos either).

For example, in the TNG episode, "A Matter of Honor", the Klingons
make a number of sexual jokes at Riker. One of the officers (Klag?)
says that Klingon food may be inappropriate for Riker and suggests
that one of the females feed him the natural way (he was actually
more explicit). Then he asks Riker if he could "endure" the two
Klingon females, and Riker responds to the joke by asking, "One or
both?"

Then on the Klingon language tapes, mating rituals are light-heartedly
poked fun of. One of the mu'qaD veS curses is "targhlIj yIngagh
yIruch!" etc. Thus my impression of the (fictional) Klingon culture
is that Klingons have a much more open attitude towards sexuality and
jokes about sex than humans.

I've focused too much on violence/war when using Klingon, as I've
posted a quote from Genghis Khan and parts of Sun Tzu on this
jabbI'IDtlhegh. It's not that I have a particular preference for
discussing sex or war, but that (in my mind) Klingons do.

One last thing... *sex* qelbe'bej qIDwIj. *phaser dental surgery*

yIqontaHneS!

I'll try to be more aware in the future of the fact that many posters
don't share (my idea of) Klingon sensitivities.
