Hmm... "empty apparent-lake". I think you could omit the {-Hey}.

Nope. "Hole" is one of the basic words and concepts we just don't know how to
translate.

True, but I don't think we saw any in ST3, ST5 and ST6 - the three movies for
which Okrand was paid to provide Klingon dialogue - and so Okrand didn't need
to come up with a word.
We do have {ngech} "valley", {Qargh} "fissure", {'och} "tunnel" and {DIS}
"cave". Hey, how about {DIS SaS} "horizontal cave"?
