If you want to ask, "How long is this distance?" likely the best 
approach is to suggest a unit of measurement and ask how many of 
them are involved. {qelI'qam 'ar 'aD chuqvam?} Remember that a 
question is formed by taking what would be the answer and using 
the question word to replace the substance of the answer. In 
this case, you replace the number which would preceed {qelI'qam} 
with the question word {'ar} which must FOLLOW the word 
{qelI'qam).
