Essentially, the mail server just gathers all the mail, then once or twice
a day sends as one huge email containing all the mail received since the
last digest. Usually comes like "tlhIngan Hol Digest #xxx" or similar.
Some headers are stripped (usually Received: path, etc), and you just read
the mail that's broken into "sub-mail".
I'm not sure about tlh-H's listserv, but usually, the digest doesn't sort
the messages by thread, just in order received.
It sort of looks like (I've not done this, my mailing lists are filtered):
From: [email protected]
To: <your email>
Subject: tlhIngan-Hol digest #nnn (# can change)
<Sometimes an index>
====
From: <first message>
Subject: ...
<body>
====
etc.
