quljIb was observing that 2.8 loghqammey = 3.5 light years and 8.8 loghqammey
= 11 light years, as specified in those first two sentences. Using simple
algebra, we get

2.8l = 3.5y
l = 1.25y

or

8.8l = 11y
l = 1.25y

where l = loghqam and y = light year.
