We often hear "Klingon needs this" or "Klingon needs that". Because
Klingon is a constructed language (or because we have not heard enough
from Maltz), this is often true, especially in the area of vocabulary.
But because it is a constructed language, we tend to think the language
is at fault, when it is really the speaker. I certainly wouldn't
complain if Arabic had no way to say "The quick brown fox jumped over
the lazy dog" without significantly recasting the idea. We can and
should debate the boundaries of our language, but we should also use
what we have - it's an expressive and beautiful language. It is worth
noting that those who complain least are among the most skilled.
