We Need A Klingon Speaking Environment

I post this question in order to address our understood need for an
interactive Klingon-language educational opportunity. I have tried to make it
as brief as possible. I hope you all will find this to be within the topic
restraints, however loosely.
Our 'Talker' site may not exist much longer. We all want a place where as many
of us as possible can get together and use this language, and we have brought
up many ideas on this list. One popular idea is to use the KLI MUSH site for
this purpose.
If we do decide to go that route, I hope there are folks out there who could
supply some useful instructions on use of the MUSH. I am sure it is fun to
use; that is not in question! I have tried it numerous times - I am BAFFLED by
it.Do we want to require that the newer users, such as myself, learn a million
DOS-style codewords and command structures (in other words, learning the wrong
language!), while those of you with experience must teach us the ropes of
MUSHing while you'd rather be practicing your Klingon!
My feeling is this - if we want an open environment for the most people to
participate in speaking Klingon, I'm afraid the MUSH's complexity will work
counter to that. Perhaps we need to evaluate what our goals are here - are
they to use the present resources of the KLI and force them to make do, or to
expand the resources and select new technology better suited for the task?
As I understand it, the MUSH was once a thriving center of activity. It can be
once again. I am sure to try it again, and perhaps one day come away with a
basic grasp of it. But is it the BEST vehicle for the educational mission of
this organization? Would chat rooms or another 'talker' site be a more
appropriate environment for fostering open tlhIngan-Hol communication?
I eagerly encourage your comments.

P. S. Why DID the MUSH's popularity die off? Do we have any answers or
speculation?
