Writing is of course a fairly recent inovation, compared to spoken language.  
There are still languages that exist (and have always existed) without a written
form. Nor do all the languages that possess writing use an "alphabet," but 
that's probably besides point.

More on target, we do have a writing system, the romanization that Okrand gave 
us with TKD.  That's all you *need* to communicate Klingon in writing (by 
definition).

And, as for the "nonsanctioned" pIqaD that is in use, I wouldn't worry about it.
People use it; hell, some people can read it. We define a linguistic community, 
and our use of the language provides a descriptive grammar.  We turn to Okrand 
for the prescriptive grammar, and try to keep the two in sync.
