The cadet commander resumed examining uniforms. When he accomplished this
task, he gave a short speech (I did not know which Klingon verb would be
correct here). "Your duty is simple. Study, learn. Absolutely obey your
superiors. Do not question them. Do not challenge them. Do not strike them.
If you break these rules, we will punish you. However, if you strike a
superior, we will definitely not punish you. We will send you home. You
clearly have no priviledges. When you begin second year, then you can earn
priviledges. If you have true courage, then you will not fail. Now the
initiation begins." The new cadets had to run between the others. They hit
the new cadets with sticks. A few cadets held knives. They had to avoid the
knives, because one could receive a fatal wound. One boy did not finish and
he was carried from the parade ground. He would return home that day.
The sisters completed the initiation and Pelora thought that her father hadn't
prepared her for this. Velka knew what she was thinking. She smiled at
Pelora for she was not permitted to speak. Velka became uneasy also because
she was thinking, "What is my punishment?" Fortunately, it wasn't possible to
dwell on the thoughts about the punishment.
Now they met Malik whom they would serve. The commandant had spoken to Malik,
"I absolutely want the sisters to fail." Malik had understood. He was
cunning and vicious. He was undoubtedly going to cause the sisters to suffer.
"Animals, come with me," Malik commanded them. They cleaned his room while
he studied at school. When he returned, he inspected his room which was very
clean and neat. Because they had done the job perfectly, he was displeased.
He should have said, "Well done." Instead he hit the girls forcefully while
shouting, "Slackers, do it again! Do it again! Velka and Pelora followed his
orders. They went to school when Malik permitted it.
When night came, they were ordered to their room. The door was locked. The
sisters whispered to one another. Velka said, "The commandant and Malik want
us to fail. I'm very stubborn and I'm not going to leave." Pelora said, "You
are right, but we will have to help each other." "Done!"

Quick questions that pertain to a later part. How can I say {She could not
look him in the eye}? I know ways around this like {mInDu'Daj pepHa'} or {yav
buS mInDu'Daj}, but those aren't exactly right. Also, is {bej} the correct
verb to use giving the command {look at me}?
