Re: yuch

It's kind of pointless to muse about the similarity of species and whatnot
on Qo'noS and earth. Star Trek is notoriously lousy about actually being
"galactic"; most of what it's about could be handled just as easily with
factions on a single planet. Almost all the aliens are humanoid with
excitingly different noses and foreheads, even their cultures are VERY
close to our own or ones we're familiar with, they all speak English (and
that universal translator jazz isn't even consistently handled within the
series), etc etc. I don't worry about it, because that's not what I watch
the show for. Explanations of questions like these are a non-goal for me,
and I don't expect them. A Star Trek idea of an alien creature is a Terran
creature with an adjective in front of it ("No, no! Can't say he couldn't
hit a yak: it's ALIEN, remember! He couldn't hit a *Yridian* yak! There,
see how brilliantly alien we are now?") Doesn't bother me, because I don't
expect different.
