When I was learning this sound I took Marc at his word and went and found
someone who spoke a little Aztec.  So, when I make this sound I simply use a
/t/ followed by a voiceless /l/.  I'd be more inclined to call the whole
thing an affricate, except that to me suggests that the /l/ is a fricative.
 In my experience (admittedly, I haven't been in a phonology class in 12
years) we always glossed the /l/ as either a liquid or a glide.
