Re: Grouse, grouse, grouse

\I use PINE for the KLL. In it, all messages have a From: line, showing
\who sent it. Then, there's a Reply To: line, usually with the KLL
\address. Whenever I send a message, I can choose whether or not it's to
\a specific person(s) or the whole gang.
PINE is unique in that regard, from my experience. It prompts you for
use of "Reply-To" vs. "From" when you select the Reply option. Most mailers
don't - my versions of Berkeley mail and ELM certainly don't. For them,
Reply-To overrides From, (as it should according to RFC-822).

Now, of course, I'm always able to type in the address manually, assuming it's
somewhere I can see it. And that's precisely what I did to reply to the
"bawdy Klingon filk" message in a private manner. But that's hardly the point.
Since most mailers, although admittedly not all, do at least have the
originator-only and originator-and-all-recipients reply options, I think it
makes sense to utilize them as they were intended, rather than have the
originator-only reply go to everyone on the list. That was what I was
suggesting.

Of course, at this point, everyone is in the habit of just hitting the normal
reply command to send to the whole list, and the majority are probably not
willing to get used to using a different command for that purpose. But
I still wanted to throw my 2 centicredits in one more time.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled Klingon discussion, already
in progress.
