Re: more on stylistics
I just wanted to make it publicly plain that I in no way
considered Guido's post to be a flame. His points are quite
valid. I appreciate his insights and consider this post, like
many, to include truly refreshing examples of how to use often
neglected strengths of the language and avoid English-idiomatic
constructions.
Yes, vocabulary is my greatest weakness. Compiling my own
dictionary has helped, but I've been distracted by life
recently and have not applied enough focus on the task of
finishing it and acquiring vocabulary to be undeserving of
Guido's accurate criticisms.
I feel like I made a positive influence on this list when I
pushed for recasting instead of merely remapping English to
Klingon. Meanwhile, that contribution is part of the upper
layers of a foundation that Krankor and others layed out before
me, and now others, like Guido are working on the house above
that foundation. This is no time for me to sit back and content
myself with my past contributions.
I'm temporarily handicapped by a dead modem. I will return with
a higher quality of attention soon.
