[quote from ~mark]
: Well, I'm not so sure about generalizing -vI'. Not the least bit
: sure. However, I do not feel that, lacking such a suffix, that we
: are wholly without the ability to do fractions. Were I to need a
: fraction, I would use DoD. Perhaps I am dealing from ignorance, but
: isn't the "mark" in "course 111 mark 14" the same as a decimal
: point? A decimal point lets us do a vast wealth of fractions.
There are numerous (hypothetical) ways to do fractions; 3/5 could be >wej
vaghDaq<, or (based somewhat on Japanese) >wej vagh'ay'<, or, as ~mark
suggests, >wej vaghvi'(mey?)<, or >pagh DoD jav<, or >wej vagh wavghachmey<, or
even >vagh wej wavghachmey<! Given time, I suppose I could think up some more.
I guess what we need to do here is figure out how Klingons would likely do
fractions themselves, and looked at from that perspective, though I _really_
don't want to get into unsanctioned affixes (especially not on the basis of a
word or two -- tlhH is very irregular in that respect), using a suffix for a
fraction seems very Klingon. If we go with that, I propose >-vi'< or even
(*barf, barf*) >wav<.
