jabbI'ID tIq labDI' po'wI' chaq bolaDlaHbe', 'ach QInmeyvetlh qaq law'
po'be'wI' QInmey tIq qaq puS. About my third or fourth posting after
I delurked was part one of a long story about a warrior's first
mission. Let's just say, jIngotlh 'ach wej jIpo'. I don't think
then-BG ghunchu'wI' ever got through it, but Voragh (DunaDjaj qeylIS,
Voragh) did and gave me constructive criticism, backed up as always
with canon to force me to pay attention to it. When you can't
understand a long post, don't automatically assume it's your fault.

Regarding "translation." Don't make it your goal of understanding.
Those who attended qep'a' know that that was a goal of mine this year,
to be good at translation, and I was struggling, requiring pauses in
speech to do it. If you just understand the words, holding ambiguites
in your mind as you go, it's much easier than trying to translate
every word into another language. I know the concept of "just
understanding" seems harder than translating, but in reality it is
much faster.

Just read the posts, blurring gently over the words and constructions
you don't understand, so you finish with a vague idea that charghwI'
did something, and he liked it, and a few words that came up over and
over again that you don't understand. Look up those words. Okay,
this won't work for everyone, but it worked for me.
