Re: Pronouncing "''"

The same problem occurs with all the "stop" consonants.  Does {yIttaH}
have a doubled {t} sound in the middle? Is {Soppa'} prounced with two
{p}s? Marc Okrand addresses this on pages 138 and 139 of _Klingon for
the Galactic Traveler_, saying that reducing it to a single sound is
considered "sloppy" or "careless", but it does happen. It's noted as
a characteristic of younger speakers, while older Klingons would either
pronounce each consonant distinctly or hold the sound briefly before
letting the air through again. In the specific case of two {'}s, the
older Klingons also have tendency to reduce the sound to a single {'}.
