Start by reading through the Grammar section of TKD, slowly, noting
questions as you go, and practicing examples of the constructions. When you
get to the end of the grammar, read it through again. Put together some
sentences of your own, testing the grammar you have learned. Ask your
questions here. Post some of your practice.
Examine the sentences in TKW and try to understand how they are formed from
the grammar in TKD. Read TKD again.
Read through KGT and make notes as to where the information is. Darn thing
has no index. Read TKD again.
Memorize the prefixes, suffix classes and suffixes. Choose and memorize
useful vocabulary. Read TKD again.

That's a pretty good piece of advice right there. Don't be afraid to make
mistakes.
