Glen Proechel

As many of you know, some months back Glen Proechel left the running of the
ILS in Ken Traft's hands and went off to do missionary work in Russia.
While there, Glen reportedly lost quite a bit of weight. After Russia Glen
moved on to Korea, continuing his mission.

Details have been sketchy, but apparently Glen took quite ill while in
Korea, experiencing both serious heart and kidney problems. He underwent
surgery there and I have been informed that he is now back in the US, in a
hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

According to the last report I've received, Glen is in intensive care
(though expecting to be moved to a normal ward shortly). He is still on
dialysis and his heart is weak. Knowing Glen, he is probably annoyed and
irritated at his condition, and in less than rosy spirits. Anyone wishing
to send a card or note to him can do so by writing him care of this address:

     Patient Glen Proechel
     Altru Hospital
     1200 S. Columbia
     Grand Forks, ND 58206

Although Glen and I have rarely agreed on anything with regard to Klingon,
there is no denying his role in the history of the Klingon speaking
community -- both as the organizer of the original Klingon Language Camp,
and as an energizing opponent for many other scholars and speakers.

I hope you join with me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Lawrence
