you're still stuck with the english usage of [and]
You're using ['ej] to show sequence.
['ej] is for connecting simultaneous conditions


>ba'taH yaSpu' 'ej HIq lutlhutlhtaH
>HoSqu' tlhIngan 'ej Dojqu'

['ej] used here is correct.
He is sitting and drinking at the same time, not sequentially.
