Today, I played a Star Trek boardgame. It contains a videotape, which
is really bad. It's called "A Klingon challenge".
The tape shows the story: A Klingon hijacks the Enterprise. His face
is on the box. I thought: "Damn! That's Gowron!" But it wasn't
Gowron. He *is* Robert O'Reilly, but in this game he plays Kovak.
Nobody's on the Enterprise, except two, three or four players.
We had sixty minutes to save the Enterprise. The tape shows a timer.
Somtimes Kovak appears and punishes a player.
Sometimes he also speaks Klingon, but he doesn't pronounce it very
well. When he says {bIj}, he pronounces "byizz", and when he says
{SuvwI'}, he pronounces "suwell".
The tape has been dubbed: O'Reilly speaks English, but we hear him
speak Dutch (so his lips are out of synch which is very annoying).
Okrand is in the credits.
It's really bad, but the game is fun to play.
BTW, the things this Kovak says are for the most part out of TKD; at
the beginning he attepts to say {tlhIngan Hol Dajatlh'a'}; and when
he beamed himself to the bridge, and sees Picard's chair, he says
{quSDaq ba'lu''a'}. And further he says some other various words,
which (except {puS} and {mev}) are all in the Addendum. (The game's
made in '93, I believe.)
Did I mention that even the manual says that {bIj} is to be
pronounced as "byizz", and that {mev} is written as "MEV" in it? I
assure you, Okrand WAS in the credits as Klingon language specialist,
along with some people who were "Klingon language advisors" if I
remember correctly.
