Welcome to the both of you. I assume you both have copies of The Klingon
Dictionary, and are reading them thoroughly. More information on the
resources available, this list, and starting Klingon can be found at:

My advice to you, if you want to become fluent, is to read the grammar
section many times, trying out what you learn bit by bit in posting, until
you have absorbed it into your brain, while gradually memorizing the
vocabulary.
If you're not sure exactly what you want to do with the language, memorizing
and dissecting some of the phrases in the appendix would be a good start.
If you know that {bIjatlh 'e' yImev} means "stop talking" and
{bIjeghbe'chugh vaj bIHegh} means "surrender or die" and *why*, you can say
a great number of ther things just by looking up vocabulary and slotting it
in the right places.
