JONATHAN FRAKES TO DIRECT A KLINGON COMPUTER PROGRAM
NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--June 1, 1995--Jonathan Frakes, best
known as ``Commander William T. Riker'' in the hit TV series ``
``Star Trek: The Next Generation,'' will direct the interactive
multimedia CD-ROM ``Star Trek Klingon,'' which starts filming June 19 at
Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, it was announced by producer Keith
Halper of Simon & Schuster Interactive.
``Star Trek Klingon'' will be the third Star Trek interactive
multimedia title from Simon & Schuster Interactive when it launches in
November 1995. It follows ``Star Trek Omnipedia,'' shipping in July,
and ``Star Trek: The Next Generation Interactive Technical Manual,''
currently one of the top-selling CD-ROMs in the country.
``Star Trek Klingon,'' an interactive simulation adventure in the
Klingon culture, lore and ritual will showcase break-through technology
featuring full-motion interactive video with integrated voice
recognition, allowing players to ``talk'' with characters on screen for
the first time.
It will be available in most major computer software, book and mass
merchant chains on CD-ROM for Windows and Mac (suggested retail: $79.95)
``Star Trek Klingon'' draws upon ``The Klingon Dictionary,'' a
top-selling Pocket Books paperback, and ``Conversational Klingon'' and
``Power Klingon,'' two successful spoken word tapes from Simon &
Schuster Audio. This revolutionary new product will be supplemented
with the ``Klingon Cultural Handbook,'' a special publication available
in this package only.
